I've got Bilsteins on my 9000, but there are many that find them too
stiff. I got mine from shox.com for a decent price - the fronts were
$200, I think the rears were a little cheaper. I put poly bushes on the
control arms and the steering rack. On the rear, I have them on the
links for the anti-sway bar. Every where else, I have the stock rubber
bushings. As far as vacuum lines are concerned, I'd change them
all. There's not that much you need, and if you do them all, then
you don't have to worry about it for another 50k miles, or so. Just
remember to change the small ones that go to the FPR and MAP
sensor, plus all the others in the boost control circuit. Some people
like the silicone hoses, as they don't degrade as fast as rubber, but
they're hard to locate and when you do, they're not cheap.
The only procedural advice I can think of, off-hand, concerns the
control arm bushes. If you buy the bushes from Superflex, I've
found that the inside diameter, where the metal sleeve goes, is
a bit large for the stock sleeve that comes with the stock bushings.
I had a machinist friend cut a new set of sleeves that fit tighter in the
poly bushings. Also, BillJ has great write-ups for procedures on
replacing the bushings - check his site out.
