The most difficult part of the job is pulling the crank pulley. To gain access you need to remove the right front wheel and the plastic wheel well liner. This gives you access to most everything you need. You will need to remove the serpentine belt. There is a special tool to aid in removing the tension but you can probably fight your way through that. You probably have to pull off the AC belt as well. Next comes the crankshaft pulley. Do a search and you will come up with several innovative ways to loosen the nut. With the nut off you should be able to wiggle the pulley free. (This is also a perfect time to replace the crank oil seal) With the pulley removed you can see a cover held on by about 6 10mm bolts and 2 or 3 13 mm bolts. Once all are removed you can remove the cover and the oil pump will be staring you in the face. To the right of these gears you will see a plunger. You need to remove it and a spring will come out with it. Polish that piston to remove any residue or grit from it. It should move very freely in the bore when it is functioning properly. If you rapping isn't immediate after startup I think you might still be in good shape. The only parts you should need to buy is the oil pump gasket and the crank seal if you decide to do that. It is more effort than dollars. Go for it.
