I keep reading people's posts about dumb drivers and thanking God that it never happens to me. Well it finally happened. Driving down I-10 on the west side of Houston in the middle of the night and half the lanes were closed to fix the off-ramps. Some guy in a Dodge Ram decides he's too good to drive slow with the rest of us and takes off down the wrong side of the barrels.

Round about the time he catches up with me he finds a road sign in his way. Trying to split the sign and the orange barrel, he strikes the barrel and knocks it into my car. What an @$$! I can only hope it then spun away from oncoming traffic.

To make matters worse, this guy then speeds off down the road. I gave chase (wasn't too hard to keep pace) and followed him off the next ramp thinking he'll pull over. Nope. With two miles and ten turns between the interstate and the drive he pulled into, he didn't stop once and a car following you like that is pretty obvious. I got all the info I could off the car as well as the residence he drove to. Police station was closed- my first stop of the morning. I did file a claim with the insurance company though.

The upside is that I am fine and I have only found minor cosmetic damage to the Saab so far. Mostly I'm mad that someone could be so irresponsible in so dangerous a situation and so flippant about running away. Worse, I think that, judging on the car and the area he drove to, this is some rich kid whose parents will let him off easy. He'd be better off not driving any time soon.

Finally- can anyone suggest anything I've missed or should do? I'm just real worried, especially if the barrel rolled back into traffic, that I'll catch some heat for this.
