Quasi has an extensive list of things to look for. I would pay a Saab specialty shop an hour of labor to look it over. Someone who does not know these cars will not know where to begin to look. I, personally, would not be persuaded one way or another by a dealer service history.
You can expect to spend some money on this car, particularly during the first year of ownership. If you do your own work, you can have some fun replacing bushings, motor mounts and the like to return the car to a like new feel. In fact, you probably would not even think you needed to do this until after it was done, when you would realize the difference.
Also, the Aero can be upgraded fairly easily. A number of people here have installed modified ECU's and larger exhausts to push into the 300+hp range. And those are realy dyno numbers at a cost of less than $2,000.
Prospective owner questions like yours frequently spark the Toyota Camry v. 9000 debate. If you love your cars the way you love your refrigerators, a 9000 is not for you. On the other hand, if a yellow caution sign warning of S curves has you downshifting, you might really love the Aero (I would mention something about the benefits of good radar detector, but I imagine you already have a good one).
