OK - what a way to spend a Saturday. Luck for me it was warmer than expected.

Waste gate arm - what a pain. My pin had not fallen out, but rusted in to the hole quite well. To get more workspace, I removed the waste gate actuator. After lots of 'liquid wrench', wd-40, and poking with a pin, got me nowhere. driling with a titanium bit and a flex shaft attached to a dremel, got me nowhere. I couldn't get the bit to stop wandering around the pin. I took the easy (but less permanent? and not saab standard solution - I put a steel end cap on the post. One of those things that go on toy wagons. I pressed it on and can't get it off for the life of me. We'll see how long that lasts.

Next step was to replace all my vacuum lines with nice new red silicone ones from Saab Savior - easily done, no worries. Although I had no 'leaks' per say, I'd easily sugget that the joints were so rotted and loose fitting that every one of themm leaked! My idle is much smoother too!

Now on to that damn stepper motor. Again, an self test shows all is fine, but I have no heat on any setting, anytime. The arm on the flap is not broken, the wire is attached to the flap, the other end of the wire is attached to the stepper motor and the stepper motor arm is not broken. That would lead me to suspect the stepper motor, right? Is the self check on the ACCII so bad that it can't sense a bad motor? My next step is to pull the top of the dash and pull the motor and then run all those voltage resistance checks on the motor. For the mean time, I pushed the lever to 'heat' for the winter.

That's my update, any suggestions are of course welcomed.

Thanks,
Aaron
