"normal," mode and "massive exhaust leak just before oxygen sensor" mode. I think yours is currently running in the latter, which could be solved if we install that fancy new "gasket" thing that you bought.
It reminds me of my car, which has a special ECU fucnction where the engine starts to pop and miss at idle as a reminder to apply a fresh coat of exhaust sealer to my leak. But until the "just buy a new downpipe already, asshole" light comes on, I'm not going to worry about it.
It takes a dedicated enthusiast to cultivate and maintain all the special little leaks that define Saab ownership. I think you got it right with your oil and moonroof leaks. However, you went overboard with the exhaust, and now you have to start over from scratch.
My trunk leak (by the tool kit) has reached that ideal balance, the area almost always stays nice and moist. So if I add a good layer of top soil and fertilizer, and plant my bulbs soon enough, that corner of the trunk could yield a nice bloom by springtime.
Meantime, I shall continue to enjoy the generous offerings of the leaking heater core, which blankets me with the fine aroma of a syrup-smothered pancake breakfast every time I turn it on.
Time to go to bed...
