Well the thing you refer to as a "threaded pin" is actually a taper pin. The threaded end is smaller than the other end so it's a very tight fit. Basically what needs to be done is to loosen the nut that's on it and remove it by pushing on the end with the threads. Rather than removing the nut completely, I prefer to unscrew it just to the point where it's flush with the end of the threaded part - this helps protect the threads until the pin is broken loose.
As far as actually pushing out the pin goes, I'll start by gently tapping it with a hammer to loosen it, and sometimes that's enough. But usually you'll have to resort to more force. In that case, what I often do is put a medium-sized nut or something over the nonthreaded end of the pin, then use vise-grips or a c-clamp to squeeze the threaded end against the nut.
Once the pin is broken loose, you can remove the nut and usually push the pin the rest of the way out with your fingers.
Of course if you want to do it the "right way", there's a Saab special tool for the job, but I've never used it.
