Auto tranny advice before it gets worse..

Because right now it still isn't that bad, lucky me.
'95 9k w/ over 100k miles. When I bought this car, the 3-4 shift was a bit harsh, so I calculated a valve body switch. But first I triple changed the fluid, because it was dirty and overfilled. Things improved and the car became much more responsive initially, but the harsh shift remained.
So for the third change I decided to try ATF III, a move that Saab, ZF Netherlands and an independant auto tranny shop around here thought was ok. So now it runs about 50/50 ATF II/III.
After initial great success for two days, I now notice the shifting gets a bit 'unpredictable' sometimes, not to say 'erratic. It is not really bad, but noticable, also the other shift points apart from the 3-4 seem somewhat 'off' every now and then, making the tranny sort of slam the thing into next gear.
What am I looking at? Don't my governer seals like the slightly thinner fluid? Is that a possibility?
Can anyone shed a light on this before it gets really 'slammy' in shifting and the trans itself gets damaged.
Thanks,
Jan Geert
