Regarding a 1990 9KT/CD.
Canadian winters are harsh without doubt. On monday, it was a -21Celcius morning and it took her 3 cranks to get the go and a lonng time until she felt normal. So 2 nights ago, I decided to smarten up and pluged her for the first time. WHAOOOOOO, she started off the first crank and without hesitation. Engine reached operating temperature promptly and got warm air in the cabin instantly.
Note: I am not using synthetic but 10w30 Castrol GTX.
Not to take anything from synthetic oil advocates. I still admit that I am using a heavier oil (should change to 5w30) or even synthetic which helps a lot these days. I am merely saying that block heaters do miracles to your engines on those unreal cold morning. So if you have one, use it or go out and buy her a christmas gift.
Cheers.
