That sounds like the knock sensor to me. The fuel cutoff sounds like a series of quick misfires, right? My experience with the knock sensor is more of a sneeze or big "hiccup" which immediatley drops the boost way down. Did the mechanic adjust your timing? Could be he advanced it a little too much.
