The door jam latches are interchangeable front to rear, but each door has its own unique latch actuating mechanism inside the door. The inside handle mechanisms are also not interchageable. The driver's door is a bit more complicated because it has an extra actuating arm associated with the central lock/alarm system switch that is attached to the outside locking mechanism and the latch actuating mechanism.
If I read your post correctly, you can't find a way to remove the door panel upholstery. This has been covered on this BB in the past - use the search function.
