I had the same problem 2 years ago with my 88 9kt. There's a rubber/metal coupling where the rubber tends to wrip and seperate from the metal. The end results is no 3rd or 4th. The job is obvious and straight forward. Dealer has teh parts (aprox. $25 from what I remember). Hardest part is getting screws and nuts back on. Plan on 1 hour. Follow the linkage under the car from the shifter to the transmission.
