The only relays in this circuit are for the seat belt warning and the time delay to shut off the light once the door is closed or the key is turned. All of the wires from the switches are collected at a common point before the interior light so if grounding the wire at the switch does not illuminate the overhead light and all of the other door switches work properly, the likely culprit is the switch connector itself. (There could also be a break in the wire or at the common connector, but these are less likely.
One of the black wires is for the door courtesy light and the other is for the overhead light. You should isolate which is which and concentrate only on the one circuit.
If you open up the overhead light fixture, you can test the circuit with an volt/ohm meter. Check the continuity of the black wire with the switch - first at the connector and then by taking a pin and piercing the wire and making the contact between the pin and the black wire at the light.
