Robert,
I think Jake sums it up well. These cars' maintenance histories are more meaningful than miles. If aggressive maintained, 9k's are pretty tough. I'm about to sell my 88 on Saabnet (keep your eye on the classifieds) and at 167k miles, the car's basic performance is not much changed from 14 years ago, thanks to a great mechanic, constant garaging and mild SoCal weather.
However, Shawn's comment is also correct that cars this age tend to have little issues (i.e. stuff that won't leave you hanging) which are okay, even fun, for the Saturday DIYer and not so great if you need to pay someone real money to repair them.
BTW, the only reason I'm selling my 88 is because I upgraded to a 97 Aero!
Hope this helps.
