Hi,
Remove the console by taking out the 2 bolts on the side of the rear (near the floor) and the to bolt on the front sides. Pop out the window switches. Pull the console up by the nose. Now you will see the 4 bolts of the shifter, they are screwed into THICK metal so there is nothing to hold underneath. After you unscrewed those bolts the only thing holding the shifter is the star bolt connected to the shifter rod.

Take the shifter assmbl out.

Remove the circlip.Bang out the pin. Remove the plastic. Drill a new hole (Mine is 1 inch, Kyle's 1.5 inches away from original)Cut out the same lenght outta the plastic as you move the hole by. Assemble back.

The only thing that os problematic is that you gonna need another spring because (at least we had to)remove the center peice (that is a stopper for the knob no to slide down) and the spring now does not have a bottom rest point. What Kyle did and I will do today is get a bigger dimater, stiffer spring to fit in the circumference on the know and the plastic piece.

With an older tranny it really is a must! Kyle's right the feel is such that you don't jam into the gears but instead you feell the amount of force you should use to overcome the resistance.
