A while back my 92 9000t developed a 2-3 grind. I installed a drain plug and drained old fluid and replaced with castrol 10w-30. The grind disappeared. I drove it for about 4000 mi. and got the bright idea to change to Saab synthetic. I have used Saab synthetic in my 91 SPG for years with good results. At first shifting was amazing...silky smooth and no 2-3 grind. After driving the car for about 50 miles, i decided to really test it and, unfortunately the grind came back. I drove the car for another week with the same results. It seems when the fluid is cold, as well as thick, the shifting would be fine. When the fluid would heat up a bit and thin out, the grind would come back. I have now installed Castrol 10w-40 .... the shifting is not as smooth as with the synthetic but the grind is gone. I'll sacrifice some smoothness for no grind.
