Again, it all depends if the pedal really is hard to push, or you find yourself having to push it farther to get the same engine response. If you need to push it farther, you need to apply more force, so it seems 'harder'.
So it boils down to two problems - either the pedal is actually hard to push, or the engine isn't responding well, and you need to push it farther and harder.
To lubricate it, open the hood and see where the throttle cable comes to the throttle body. Have someone press the gas pedal while you look under the hood. Look for something moving. You'll see a braided wire that disappears into a rubbery tube. Just get some Silicone lubricating spray, the type that you can stick a thin plastic tube on the end of the spray can, and stick the spray can tube into the rubbery tube and spray like mad.
The way the intake temp sensor, or other sensor problem causes the pedal to be 'stiff' is that the engine isn't as responsive - so you need to push the pedal more to get it to go. I suspect that's the problem, especially from your description of point #2 - it's OK for a while, then gets 'groggy'. I suspect you may have an AMM problem. Interesting - that's what you first asked about.
The best way to troubleshoot an AMM problem is to stick in a known good one. A decent Saab shop may be able to help there. If it is a bad AMM, the solution is to replace it. You can get a good rebuilt AMM from some of the folks that advertise on this BB (see the bottom of the page) for about $140 or so. The dealer will charge a lot more, and it'll be the same rebuilt unit.
Be warned - most AMMs look alike, and the connectors fit. But there are different part numbers, and they CAN'T BE INTERCHANGED. So look for the part number on the AMM, and make sure anyone that gets plugged in is the exact same part number.
