Robb,
The problem is obvious - 1500 miles since last October is not nearly enough. Your Saab is feeling neglected and is trying to get your attention! ;^)
Seriously, common oil-leakage points are the valve-cover gasket, the head gasket (especially near the flywheel), and the crank seal and oil pump seal on the front of the motor ("front"=non-flywheel end).
There's another common problem to check on a turbo car. On the back of the valve cover there's a plastic fitting with 2 hoses connected to it - one large, one small. The small one should go to the intake manifold and has a small plastic valve in the middle. That valve is a check valve that's there to prevent intake pressure from backing-up into the crankcase when under boost. These valves fail quite frequently. What happens when they fail is that crankcase vapors tend to get forced out past the seal under the oil cap, causing an odor. You may also notice that the area around the cap is oily. Test and replace (if necessary) the check valve, and also make sure the seal under the oil cap / dipstick is in good condition.
