During a 150 mile drive my '91 9000 CD T (81,000 miles ) started to make a low sound that I thought sounded like a hole in the exhaust system. Right before I got home the engine light started to flicker.
Before I left on the trip I thought that maybe the engine oil was a bit low and I added about 1/2 to 3/4 of a quart. The current oil was about 3,000 miles old.
I took the car to a garage (not saab per se but one of the guys owns a 9000) and he told me that the engine sounds fine and that he can't find any problems - except for a seperated vaccum hose that comes off of the engine near the DI box (as you can tell I know nothing about cars).
He told me that it looked like there may be too much oil and regardles he would change the oil and take it out for a spin. I asked him to check the compression and he said that he could tell that it was fine from letting the engine run.
Is it possible that over- filled/dirty oil could be the cause? Anything I should ask him to check?
Thanks for any help, I have nothing but problems with this car and I don't want to run it with out oil getting to the engine.
