on my 88 9kt i had this problem. I changed the switch. Like Roman said make sure u pull the white plunger out before you put the switch in. The pedal will hit the plunger which will self-adjust once in. Changing the switch didnt work on mine. Something was still out of place and there was not enough contact between the plate on the brake pedal arm and the plunger of the switch. I JB~Welded a nickel to the plate and it took up the slack. It's been working fine since the summer.
