..then you should check the boost control circuit and make sure
none of the cruise control or brake switches are sticking - either
switch will cause base boost only. The boost control circuit involves
the BPC solenoid (mounted on your radiator). the wastegate control,
the ECU, and the BPV. First, check all the vacuum lines: the three
lines that go to the BPC, the lines to and from the BPV, intake manifold, and the instrument gauge. The only other vacuum lines
are the ones from the MAP sensor and FPR - make sure you check
those, too. If you remove the vacuum line to the wastegate, you
should get wild, fuel cut-off boost - be careful with the loud pedal!
Sometimes, the wastegate actuator rod will become disconnected
from the wastegate - that'll also lead to a very anemic Aero. Your
boost gauge needle should swing into the beginning of the red
area on the gauge - it's best to use a calibrated gauge to know
exactly what boost pressures your experiencing. Basic boost
pressure is about 6.5 psi for an Aero and you should see close
to 15 psi at full boost.......good luck!
