Given that a leaking heater core isn't something you want to wait but if something expensive breaks next time. You may want to consider buying the parts from eEuroparts or other Saabnet sponsors and take the parts to the mechanic for replacement. If I recall correctly, you live in the northeast and eEuroparts can get a part to you in a day or two.
Something you may want to ask your mechanic first.
