I have had more experience in cleaning out/drying auto carpeting than I really want to remember (son's 1988 BMW 325i with water leak, finally fixed (clogged heater box drain hose) about a month ago), but after you use a rug cleaning extraction machine, I would try to figure out how to lift up the carpeting (you may be able to start lifting it up at the upper right hand corner of the passenger footwell and work backward from there). Once I get the rug lifted up, I use anthing that will keep it raised up about 4-8 inches or so. Then I place a small electric heater (WalMart has these for $25 or so)near the opening and have it blow warm air under the carpeting. This will enable you to dry out the carpeting pretty quickly and thoroughly. If you don't get it dried out adequately the downside will be a musty mildew smell.
Also, as long as you are at it with the rug extraction cleaning machine I would do all the carpeting with this unit. I use one of these (the Little Green Machine, made by Bissell) on my 1994 9000 Aero's carpeting twice a year and it has helped to keep the carpets in great shape.
