Thanks for the info Anders,
So you're saying that the shaft that the gear slips onto can actually come off of the sensor itself? That's a bit scary! I'll take a look later on this evening to see if the shaft is in fact still attached to the sensor. I replaced the gear last year due to a faulty speedometer. I'm positive that when I put it on the sensor it clicked into place. I remember pulling on it to make sure it was on there securely. It felt plenty snug. Seems odd to me that it would come off, but I guess anything is possible. Incidentally, do you know if the gear is all plastic, or is it partially metal? It's been a while since I looked at one.
