A couple of 9K users have reported a grinding sound, and/or fast pad wear with slotted and drilled rotors. Haven't used them myself, but like the plain rotors fine.
I think that most of the major rotors should be fine. I'm using Zimmerman because several folks from this board have recommended them in the past. They cost around $40ea from several sponsors on this board.
If you've done a search on pads, then you probably already know that I am very happy with PBR Deluxe pads. No noticable dust, good grip, and they last a long time for me. Oh yeah, they're very reasonably priced too.
For a more expensive pad, EBC seems to hold some promise, though their use on 9Ks seems mixed. Some have reported very fast wear with slotted rotors but I have not heard feedback on plain rotors. Folks on the 9-5 board are switching to them on new cars to reduce rotor wear and reduce dust. They seem to last fine for them. I believe that tirerack sells and has an extensive writeup on the virtues of the pad. Expect to pay ~$90/axel vs ~$30 for the Deluxe.
