1993 CS non-turbo. 127,000 miles. Symtoms are:
1. Very low idle ~500rpm;
2. bucking/missing on acceleration, especially on sudden or sustained acceleration;
3. Stalling if sitting at idle when motor is warm;
4. Sensation of less power;
5. Intermittent check engine light
6. Stall and will not restart right away;
7. Starts fine on cold start;
8. Except for intermittent bucking and overall feeling of less power, motor is smooth.
The only thing I have attempted is swapping the DI cassette with a known good unit. I have not yet pulled the plugs.
I was thinking it could be the fuel filter, fuel pump or the fuel pump relay, but the car starts fine when it's cold and holds 1000 rpm idle for a few minutes. Is there any reason why the fuel system would be ok for a few minutes and then not ok? The gas tank is almost full and I was thinking it could be a tank of bad gas, but why would it start fine and run smoothly on an intermittent basis if the gas is bad?
The AIC valve is 2 years old. I tend to think it's not this valve since I am having trouble on acceleration as well as at idle. The AMM is original and I am not sure if I have ever cleaned it.
Any thoughts or similar experiences would be much appreciated.
