I'm afraid that doing a complete comversion is a too hard job. The only think I can think of is to swap just the turbo and what is involved with it (exhaust manifold and downpipe), buildong an hose that go direct from torbo to intake, and run it as a LPT (max 6-7 psi), with no APC or solenoids, just base boost.
The high compression ratio will allow you good performances and drivability, the turbo will help the filling the combusion chambers. You could install a knock sensor to be noticed when you're pinging (useful in the tune up phase), and the LPT will give you no turbo lag and a quick spool up. The low ratio tranny will give you great acceleration too.
With this setup you should reach about 180 hp, since it's 2.3. Lees power that the 200 of the turbo, but with greater drivability and low revs torque. Nor that the "real" turbo lacks of them, but...
Others will certainly have something to say, in a more spoecific and competent way.
