Coolant Leaks If Car Unused For Long Time

With regular use, there is no coolant leak. Not a single drop on garage floor. But when I left the car unused for four months, there was coolant stain and some unevaporated coolant on the floor when I returned, and I had to add about one quart to restore full level. During the ensuing two months of regular use, there was no leak. Not a drop on the floor.
Then I left again, and when I returned ten months later, there was coolant stain and some unevaporated coolant on the floor again, and I again had to add about one quart. Again, no leaks since then.
Any possible explanations for this strange behavior? What could be happening during a long period of unuse that causes coolant to be discharged then, but not during a period of regular use?
BTW, I did not jack up the car while away, and did not feel any flat spots after ten months (Pirelli P6000 SV). I put in a full tank. I did not do the other things that were suggested (spray "fogging oil" into the cylinders, whatever that is...what is so special about this oil anyway...isn't normal engine oil in the cylinders enough; nor did I shutoff the engine by pulling the fuel pump fuse).
I did not disconnect the battery, so the battery was discharged after ten months. After charging the battery, and having to crank 5-10 times, the engine finally started. It ran roughly at first and I had to rev it to keep it from dying, but it became smooth and self-sustaining after many minutes. I don't know whether doing the fogging oil or fuel pump
fuse bit would have made it smooth and self-sustaining
from the start.
