Justin, As I don't have a 900 I'm not certain how similar they would be, but I expect it will be. As for the intake manifold it is easy to remove. I would recommend removng the upper part and leaving the lower manifold on the head as it comes out with it easily. The torx bolts can be reused, I have done this with mine, and while an angle measurement tool is supposed to be used when torquing them down it is not essential. The torque procedure for the head gasket is first torque to 45 lbs.-ft., then to 65, then turn an additional 90 degrees.

As for timing this is fairly easy also, but important to get right the first time. You can be a tooth off and not damage anything, I've done this, but it will not run right. Before start this job make sure you line up the engine with cylinder at top dead center on the compression stroke and the 0 degree mark on your flywheel is lined up with the timing mark. Then you must make sure you remove the timing chain tensioner very carefully so nothing drops out of sight or into the engine. The tensioner will be the last thing you install after everything is bolted up and the cam sprockets are installed. What you need to do is make sure the engine is at top dead center on cylinder one with the 0 degree mark on the flywheel right at the timing mark on the cover (this shouldn't have changed, but check it anyway). Then make sure the cams are aligned to their marks at the end caps. After everything is bolted up you install the exhaust cam sprocket with the chain FIRST, then you install the intake sprocket with the chain already on it. You need the timing chain tensioner out to do all this. When the sprockets are on and everything is still lined up you install the tensioner and manually turn the engine over at least 2-3 times and re-check the timing, making sure it is still lined up.

I would also recommend getting the head checked and machined as well while you have it off. I've done this job a few times and since I have most of the procedure in my head I may have left a few things out here. If you have any questions email me and I'll be glad to help.
