before you replace them check them Posted by adam [Email] (#344) [Profile/Gallery] (more from adam) on Mon, 7 Apr 2003 16:26:05 In Reply to: Check this, Stefano, Mon, 7 Apr 2003 13:00:49 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Are you replacing the wires because they are broken or because you think that they are bad?
Townsend has excellent info on this and complete testing of the tcs/abs wires and computer but the easiest thing to do is test the resistence between the two wires at the plug. They should be aroud 1100 microamps. mine read around 1120-1140. If one is >1200 then it should be replaced. I had one reading at 1800 and once replaced alot of the odd TCS stuff went away. I was able to get used ones from http://www.volvosaabparts.com for $45.
ALso if you are removing them they are a bitch. I found the best thing to do is either remove the entire wheel bearing assembly and to then remove it on a bench or what I did was drilled out the entire plastic housing down until you reach the cooper wire inside and then rip all that out. After that you should be able to crush the sides of the sensor in with a screwdriver and hammer and then hammer it out from the bottom by just undoing the 3 balljoint bolts.
good luck and if you have any questions ask.
