The ABS is constantly running self-checks. One thing it does is check to see if a wheel *isn't* turning when the brakes are off. If it sees that, it assumes the wheel sensor is bad and sets a fault. If the problem doesn't appear when the car is restarted, the fault is cleared. No ABS light, no faults.

My guess is that after the panic stops, one wheel may have stayed locked (not rotating as fast) after the brake was released. The timing for this is pretty tricky, so it might just be a minor stackup of tolerances.

If you only get an ABS light after panic stops, and the light clears after restarting the car, and ABS seems to work as advertised, I would live with it. I doubt it's a sensor - if it were, you'd be getting faults all the time during normal driving. You might find yourself replacing parts and not fixing what appears to be a non-failure.
