I just bought a 92 9000 about a month ago and I have already determined that it's a fantasic car... with faults of course. I bought it with a few less miles (112K) but I had no records like your prospective buy has. It's my first Saab too and I fell in love with the interior as soon as I sat inside. The turbo has an amazing amount more pickup, but I have the N.A. 2.3 and it's got plenty of power for regular cruising and passing. I had it up to 100 mph once just to see how steady it was and it purred up the road at around 4000 rpms with no vibrations. I'd say $2900 is a great deal without considering any problems that you might run into. Run a carfax report if you have any doubts about what your seller is telling you and check out the section on buying a 9000 on this site. I have found that mine suffers from more than one of the normal failures during the month that I have been looking the car over. Luckily I have not found any reason to suspect the tranny of anything yet (knock on wood for me) :)
