The conversion to 5 speed on the earlier 9000s it pretty simple. The thing that makes the conversion basic is the fact that the bodies for the auto and manuals are the same and therefore all of the hole are there. A CDE after MY '90 (maybe?) only came in auto so I am not sure if the holes are there. I have been following the conversions on this BB and I don't recall anyone converting a trunk version car to manual.
I am not saying it can't be done, just stating that there may not be as much of a precedent compared with the hatched 9000s.
