Shawn,
Well I'm not exactly an expert, but have seen a lot of unfavorable opinions on the "Saab V6", in all models. I think the V6 is basically an Opel motor that was kind of kludged into the Saab cars to satisfy buyers who *have* to have a V6.
Incidentally, not sure if I read your post right, but the "2.0T" and "2.3T" models are *not* V6's. I think all the V6's are 2.8 or 3 liters - asymetrically turbocharged in the 9-5, naturally aspirated in the NG900, not sure about the 9-3.
The automatic in the NG900, 9-3, and 9-5 is much more reliable than the one in the 9000. It's a completely different unit, made in Japan by Aisin-Warner. Some, if not all, of them are computer-controlled and I can tell you from experience that they work very very well, much better than any previous Saab autobox.
