Like Ari, I personally don't know that the Loctite is required, but I put it on just for peace of mind. A little tiny tube will last you forever if that's all you use it for.
Even with the Loctite, I'm still able to get my rotors off with a steady strong pull by hand. The only time I can imagine you would need to crush it, is if the sucker were held on by epoxy or glue.
