the 92 9K Turbo I recently acquired came with service records from new. It was a little scary to read all that was done to it over 142,000 miles. I spent an average of $1800. per year on maintenance on my '91 9K from 70,000 to 150,000 miles, over six years. A mechanic I go to used to good naturedly rib me about my Saab troubles. So one day him and his assistant were standing around and I asked them what kind of cars they thought were good. Almost simultaniously they said "Volvos." These are not import car guys and most mechanics I've ever known are rarely enthusiastic about any cars, since all they ever see are ones that have troubles. Maybe there's something too it. I'm just getting a 96 960 wagon ready to drive so I'll get a good head to head comparison with the Saabs. If I ever own a car again and have to pay for repairs myself, a Volvo will definitely be in the running.
