I'm a used car dealer and have been driving a lot of Volvos lately. I've always considered myself a diehard Saab guy, but I have to admit to enjoying the Volvos. I had an 850 non-turbo sedan for about six months, really enjoyed it and consider it very close to a 9000 in size and feel. It was a little faster than my non-turbo 9000 but no where near as fast as my turbo CD. Then I had a 94 960 wagon with has the traditional "trucklike" feel which I found surprisingly pleasant--it reminds me a lot of the Mercedes 260E we have. With the locking rear differential it was also pretty good in snow--almost as good as the 850. We just bought an 87 740 GLE which isn't very fast but is surprisingly refined and nice to drive. But then we picked up a 92 9000 turbo hatchback with a 5 speed as well as a '91 turbo convertible. Yeeehaaaa! I cound live with a Volvo and not feel too deprived, but Saabs do truly have a unique feel.
