Urethane upper motor mounts - premature failure?

I put on a pair of urethane mounts purchased from eeuroparts. I wasnt afraid of increased vibrations, so I put urethane mounts at both positions. For a while it was great with much more positive shifting (car is a 5spd 1988 9kT).
Now, after only 2 months or so the horizontal mount is deteriotating badly. I had the dealer put the mounts on since I couldnt get the old ones off. I can actually move the motor with my bare hands now. Its that bad. Shifting and coasting are incredible bad right now. The vertical bushing is also breaking apart - I'm guessing this is due to the additional stress being put on it with an almost useless horizontal bushing.
Anyone else face this problem? Is it wise to stick with stock (despite a more tedious installation)? Am I missing something?
Thanks,
Karthik
