You say that one argument is:
"rear wheels lockup while your front are still turn. If traction is reduced in the back, the car will rotate (uncontrolably)"...
"Because static fiction is less than kenetic friction, the rear end wants to pass up the front."
You are right that if the rear wheels lock up, the car will try to swap ends. You mixed up which is static and which is dynamic friction - and which type develops more force.
Static friction is *always* higher. Simple physics. Try pushing a heavy box from standstill. Hard to start - easy to keep moving. Static friction exists when the two surfaces are not moving wrt each other. When a wheel locks up, the friction is actually dynamic since the rubber is moving against the road (or the other way around - its all relative).
Rolling friction which exists between a rotating tire and the ground is actually more akin to static friction that dynamic. I dont remember the theory behind this, but it does make sense since the two surfaces are not rubbing against each other (so to speak). The model is more complicated than two simple surfaces though.
So once again, you were right that locking up rear wheels will cause the car to try and swap ends. Along the same line, breaking the front wheels (hard acceleration or locking brakes) will cause the car to plough straight. Just a correction on why this happens and what is what. Thats all.
Drive on.
