Here's the resolution of my cooling problems, or at least a tentive resolution:
1. It doesn't seem to be pump-capacity related, just as was suspected by BobS in his post. I seem to have sufficient flow and increasing flow with RPM as expected.
2. The heavy-duty radiator flush possibly did a tiny bit to improve apparent cooling but didn't make much change.
3. For reference-my fan is a single-speed Bosch 3-blade unit. Replacing the (original?) fan switch with a new 82 degree C switch , as reccommended in earlier TSN posts, brought the temperatures down from the "red zone" to the top of the "white zone" but then gave me the clue that my gauge was possibly inaccurate. Why? Because I could see that the 82 degree C fan switch was cycling on some but was often off while the indicated temperature was still at the top of the gauge, probably indicating a more dire situation than really existed . (My problems have never been boilover, etc., just the high gauge indication.)
4. I then noticed that the gauge jumps UP when indicated voltage on the EDU goes down, and realized that my charging/regulator system has developed a bad droop in it as electrical load is added. How bad? The progression is from 13.1 volts at almost no load to under 11 volts as I progressively add A/C, lights, cooling fan, and rear window defroster. So I'm going to chase that rabbit now, with the idea that my cooling system may have less-than-new but still adequate performance, and that my "indicated" problem probably has to do with my electrical system and possibly my gauge's accuracy, too.
