Gearshift adjustment .. any Tricks?? Posted by Andrew [Email] (#1013) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Andrew) on Tue, 10 Jun 2003 21:18:55 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Just got Junior's car (87 9kT) back together, after new Clutch, hydraulics and Trans rebuild.. Everything works as expected.. Whew :-)
Am having trouble getting the Gearshift To fully/securely engage 2nd and 4th.. yes Have a Saab OEM manual, did the 4mm pin inna Shifter.. repeatedly, ALL mounts are either new or V near new, including coupler.
Trans is OK, it shifts properly. Just when I do the 4mm pin setup I have this trouble getting 2nd and 4th so they feel fully "in"... when setup without the "pin" method all gears are easily engaged.. solidly..except 5th which feels a bit Iffy/unsecure. Obviously setup accuracy is V critical, I've found that even a mm at the coupler is too much ;-).
Have even Zap Strapped the brand New Coupler to reduce is vague Rubberiness.. it helped quite a bit.. but still not right/fully engaging.
Any suggestions or experiences as to 'getting this right' am getting frustrated with this endless linkage fiddling.
