Since owning my '94 9000 CSE (non-turbo) for approximately 1-1/2 years, I have had an intermittent problem with stalling the fits your description exactly. And after 1-1/2 years of troubleshooting & replacing "the most likely causes" (read $$$), it finally turned out to be the IAC (idle air control valve.) Reading through several previous posts on this subject, although you may be able to clean the mechanical portion of the valve by use of carb cleaner (which may resolve one cause of erratic operation), you can not disassemble the electric motor portion of the valve. After years of use the commutator on the motor is covered graphite from the brushes and other contaminants from the exhaust, and it is not serviceable. Some previous posts state that they damaged the electric motor when trying to clean the mechanical portion with carb cleaner! I purchased a new IAC valve at 1/2 of the Saab retail at Trollhatten (http://www.cybertroll.com) and now the idle on my '94 is rock steady, better the idle on my '97 CSE Turbo! Good Luck, let me know how you make out.
