I assume that you checked the battery terminals with a DVM, rather then relying on the car's EDU for this measurement.
When I replaced my VR, Jim at Sobstory offered me three choices for VR's. The Bosch and two other generic VRs. The difference in price was about $38 for the Bosch and $16 and $18 for the generics. I asked Jim's opinion, and he didn't think much of the generic brands, so I went with the Bosch.
You have to decide how long you are going to keep the car and if it is worth an extra $20 for the peace of mind. My VR lasted 140,000 miles, so I didn't mind buying a new one.
