no lift required. you will need a spring compressor though. and a couple jack stands, because you'll want both wheels off the back at the same time.
The fronts are easy. take out the old strut and spring (take out the bolts that hold the upper bearing to the car, and the two lower bolts that hold the strut to the wheel assembly, and it comes right out). Take it apart- compress the spring, and get the nut off the strut rod, and it all comes apart. I used a big pair of vise-grips on the strut rod and a socket on the nut- you can use an allen wrench in the end of the strut rod, but it's a pain in the ass, and since I was replacing the strut anyway, I used the vise-grips and destroyed the strut rod, but who cares. Anyway. Put together the new package, and bolt it into the car.
The rear is going to suck more, because you'll find that the bolts through the sway bar are all seized to their bushings, and it is a royal pain. I was able to get one free on my car, and wiggle it out of the other side, and make it work, but it still sucked. Oh, and getting all the carpet outta the way to get to the top of the shocks was also miserable (it's a CD). but otherwise, it was easy.
I replaced the rear control arm bushings and ball joints while I was in there. I didn't cut any bump stops, but have had rear-suspension bottom-out problems. Or something is going on.
You will find that the new suspension is freakin' stiff, and will show up any weaknesses in the car. You'll also find that the stock sway bars are way too wimpy. That's where I'm at, anyway. I wish I could say that the car handles like i want, but it doesn't. It's still a big tub.
lotsa luck,
