I had a similar problem on the '88. My mechanic replaced the clamp; it held almost a week. After replacing/tightening it a few more times, I finally had to source a new hose from a hose repair specialist. The old hose had survived over 250K miles to my knowledge, so it's time had come- it had degraded to the point of near jelly-like consistency and would not hold. The new hose was a heavy duty reinforced rubber hose unlike anything available at the local auto parts stores. Just wanted you to to be aware that your fix may or may not last. Good luck and happy (belated) birthday!
