I have heard that compressors will make a lot of noise when short on oil, and oil is not a standard part of R134a, has to be added seperately. Depending on what was taken apart and how much leaked out, you may be low on oil, even though your refrigerant is OK. The good news is that I believe that you can buy the oil in small (4 oz.?) pressurized cans that you connect to the LOW side of your A/C system, available at auto parts stores. It's cheap and worth a try, if you know what you are doing - if not, let a pro put it in for you!!!
