Auto trans removal?

Last March my engine blew on my '91 9000CD Turbo due to lack of oil pressure caused by a stuck by pass valve. They really should have gauges on Saabs, by the time the light went on-- too late. The car has 150k on it and the auto trans is good. I now have the opportunity to buy a '91 9000T 5 door with 106K for $500.00 (one owner car that looks pretty clean). The auto trans is bad, or at least he thinks, it doesn't move and there is a puddle under the car.
My question is, is it easier to remove the trans and engine as one or just the trans itself? I think I am going to put my trans in the new car and part mine out. If someone can give me an idea of how hard it is to swap transmissions that would be great. I changed a clutch in a '86 9000T and am still having nightmares, what a pain! I have changed engines and transmissions in the past in many cars, but I want to know what I am getting myself into with the Saab 9000 auto removal. Thanks.
