I posted these questions earlier and with the info I got, I am sure my problem is fuel, and within that area, 3 things.
1 - O2 sensor, even though it reads from about .2 to .9 volts as I have read it is supposed to do. Can these things get worn and cause lean mixtures even though the signals are good? I have a brand new one (albeit a generic one that I will have to splice in, but $50 was a lot better than $200), but I hesitate to install it if the original one is apparently working. I tried unplugging the O2 sensor and driving it and the Check Engine Light came on, as it should have, but there was no difference in power.
2 - AMM. I have looked at it but don't know what to look for. The little fine wire in it is there and appears intact, but other than that, what else do I check?
3 - Fuel pressure or injectors. I have done a volume check on the pump itself and it is delivering at least as much as the book says (900ml).
How do I check pressure and find out if the injectors are good?
The car is a 89 9000CD turbo with the B202 motor and 135K miles on it. While the check engine light has never come on by itself, I have been able to retrieve 2 codes from it, on 3 succesive ocaisions, even after erasing them before. They are 12111 and 12112. Both point to a lean mixture and that is just the way it seems to run. Very doggy leaving intersections, and still not having the power it should after developing boost, which it has plenty of. I checked and reset the base boost and eliminated any vacuum leaks and checked plugs and timing. Mileage is also down.
Any further hints or pointers will be very much appreciated. I told my wife I'd have it fixed in no time. I'm running out of excuses.
