Can anyone help with some information about the connection to the magnetic clutch on the air-conditioning compressor on a 1993 Saab 9000 CSE 2.3T?
The story so far:
Some months ago, when the serpentine belt came off, it damaged the connection to the AC compressor clutch.
I fixed the belt (and replaced the tensioner, which was the cause of the problem), but left the wires just taped up (it was nearly winter - didn't need the AC).
Had the car serviced in December, and declined the offer of paying some exorbitant price to replace the compressor.
Now that I need AC again, I find that the helpful guys at the Saab workshop have clipped off the wire to the connector, so my friendly independent AC specialist can't see the extent of the damage, or what it's supposed to look like.
All I can remember is a rectangular black plastic shell, with 2 pins, although I can only find one (blue) wire now, and I can't remember if the pins were projecting from the clutch (they are not any more, but could have been extracted or flattened) or from the connector.
Not sure which model compressor it is (and haven't got the car today to check) but it has the more round-cornered casing. The connection to the clutch is towards the front of the car, and seems to face inwards towards the body of the compressor - looks too tight to plug anything in from that direction.
My questions therefore are:
I don't really need a new compressor, do I?
How is the connector supposed to mate with the clutch?
Can the connector be obtained as a separate part?
Can the connection be re-made without removing the clutch from the compressor body or dismounting the compressor?
