Many thanks for the useful information.
The thermal switch and its two wires with in-line connectors are intact.
It seems that the only missing bits are the black connector, and its two wires.
What I am now wondering is whether the solder point at the back of the clutch is simply a ground point, in which case, it would be easier to connect it to some other point, e.g. the small cable clamp at the front of the compressor body - much more accessible...?
That would mean that if there's enough space between the clutch and the compressor body to plug in the black connector, I would not have to remove anything...
Or is my optimism getting the better of me...?
